Flahaut de La Billarderie, Auguste Charles Joseph, comte de[OgUst´ shArl zhOzef´ kONt du flAO´ du lA bEyArdurE´] Pronunciation Key, 17851870, French general and statesman; illegitimate son of Charles Maurice de Talleyrand and AdEle de Flahaut. He fought under Napoleon I and served as ambassador to Berlin, London, and Vienna under Louis Philippe. He supported the coup (1851) of Louis Napoleon (later Napoleon III) and served again (186062) as ambassador to London. The lover of Hortense de Beauharnais, Flahaut was the father of Napoleon III's half brother, the duc de Morny.
