Jacquemart de Hesdin[zhAkmAr´ du AdaN´] Pronunciation Key, fl. c.13841411, Franco-Flemish manuscript illuminator. Jacquemart illustrated numerous books of hours, including a number of manuscripts for Jean, duc de Berry. Influenced by Sienese painting, his illuminations included elaborate architectural interiors used to place figures in a believable space. Jacquemart is notable also for his marginalia : fanciful foliage and animal shapes forming a sort of frame to encompass the manuscript page.
