Krasnoye Selo[krAs´nuyu syilO´] Pronunciation Key, district, NW European Russia. It is a rail terminus and has industries producing paper and plastics. Krasnoye Selo was a favorite summer resort of Saint Petersburg before the Russian Revolution. Nearby are two of the former summer palaces. Once a city, it was incorporated into St. Petersburg (then Leningrad) in 1973.
