Lolland or Laaland[both: lO´lAn] Pronunciation Key, island (1992 pop. 72,536), 479 sq mi (1,241 sq km), SE Denmark, in the Baltic Sea, E of Langeland, S of Sjælland, and W of Falster. The island is low-lying and agricultural; sugar beets are the main crop. The chief cities are Maribo, SakskObing, and Nakskov. There are numerous summer resorts on the island's southwest coast.
