Orebro[OrubrOO´] Pronunciation Key, city (1990 pop. 85,860), capital of Orebro co., S central Sweden, W of Lake HjAlmaren. It is a commercial, industrial, and transportation center. Manufactures include shoes, paper, and processed food. Known since the 11th cent., it was the site of 15 national diets, notably the one in 1529, which brought the Reformation to Sweden, and the one in 1810, which elected Bernadotte (later Charles XIV) crown prince of Sweden and Norway.
