Pancevo[pAn´chevO] Pronunciation Key, city (1991 pop. 72,793), N Serbia and Montenegro, in the Vojvodina region of Serbia, on the Tamis River near its confluence with the Danube. It is a river port for nearby Belgrade and an industrial center. There is a fine old church containing valuable paintings and other works of Serbian religious art.
