Pohang[pO´hAng´] Pronunciation Key, city (1995 pop. 508,983), North Kyongsang prov., SE South Korea, on Yongil Bay of the Sea of Japan. A fishing port and agricultural center, the 1970s brought heavy industry to Pohang, such as iron and steel production and shipbuilding.
