Redmond, city (1990 pop. 35,800), King co., W Wash., a suburb of Seattle, on Lake Sammamish; inc. 1912. Its rapidly growing economy centers around computer software (Microsoft Corp. is located there), research and development industries, and the manufacture of electronic components and building products. Of interest are the preserved portions of the old brick Stevens Pass highway, and Marymoor Park, site of archaeological excavations and a historical museum.
