Amer. Falls Dam (unit in Minidoka irrigation project) and large
hydroelectric plant are here, American Falls Reservoir to NE. City grew
after arrival of RR (1892). Moved to present site after construction
(1927) of dam, reservoir of which inundated former site. Amer. Falls
(c.50 ft/15 m high; in Snake R.) are nearby. S
extension of Fort Hall Indian Reservation to E. Massacre Rocks State
Park to SW.
