446 sq mi/1,155 sq km; 1990 pop.
243,641), E Minn.; Anoka; 45°16'N 93°14'W. Agr. area
bounded SW by Miss. R. and drained by Rum R. Alfalfa, rye; some
dairying and poultry; deposits of marl and peat. Co. has become
urbanized, mainly residential, part of growth from Minneapolis-St.
Paul to S. Part of Carlos Avery Wildlife Area in E and NE; numerous
small lakes in co., especially on center and SE. Formed 1857.
