port on the Atlantic Ocean, at the mouth of the Rio Grande de Arecibo.
It has liquor distilleries and is the commercial and industrial center
of a region mfg. (furniture, machinery, chemicals, apparel), food
processing; cattle. Arecibo Observatory, largest radar/radio
