Battleford
, town (1991 pop. 4,107), N central Sask., Canada, at
the confluence of the Battle and North Saskatchewan rivers. Battleford
is one of the oldest towns in the central part of the prov. It served
as capital (1876-1883) of the N.W.T. and figured prominently in
Riel's Rebellion of 1885.
