limestone quarries, iron deposits, and some farms (dairy prods.;
livestock; burley tobacco, fruit); some mfg. (chiefly at Middlesboro).
Includes Pine Mt. State Park in center, Ky. Ridge Forest in SW, part of
Daniel Boone Natl. Forest in N, part of Cumberland Gap Natl. Historical
Park along SE boundary. Formed 1867 as Josh Bell co.; renamed bet. 1870
and 1880.
