of Salisbury; 38°20'N 75°13'W. In agr. and timber area. Poultry
packing; mfg. of clothing, wood prods., flour; vegetable canneries,
large fruit-tree nurseries. Steven Decatur Park is S of town, and
Decatur memorabilia are in the mus. at Snow Hill,
17 mi/27 km SE. In town are Burley Cottage
(c.1834) and Burley Manor, or Hammond House (c.1814). Birthplace of
Stephen Decatur, naval hero.
