Pool is a resort at the mouth of the Saco R.The 1st permanent
settlement est. 1630. During the 17th cent. the town exported lumber
and fish, and in 1840 the 1st cotton mill was built. Seat of St.
Francis Col. Inc. as a town 1718, as a city 1855.
