points of interest are Bowie Race Track, the Woodward Mansion (c.1743),
which serves as city hall, and Belair Stables, a house and mus.
(c.1746). Originally founded in 1870 under the name Huntington City, it
was renamed in 1874 for Oda Bowie, governor of Md. Bowie State Col.
here was 1st est. 1867 in Baltimore as the Baltimore Normal School, a
private training school for teachers. Inc. 1916.
