It is primarily a residential community, and is noted for its modern
developments in technology, research, and agr. Mfg. (machinery, bldg.
materials, metal, rubber, and plastic prods., chemicals). The city's
pop. has expanded greatly due to its new industrial advancements.
Tourism is also important, and the San Marcos Golf Resort is in
Chandler. Williams Air Force Base is nearby, but closed in early 1990s.
Many of Chandler's citizens work in nearby Phoenix, which has also
