Chatham Strait , SE Alaska, navigable channel extending 210 mi/338 km N-S through NW portion of Alexander Archipelago, separating Admiralty Isl. from Chichagof and Baranof isls.; 7 mi/11.3 km-8 mi/12.9 km wide; 134°50'W 56°10'-59°10'N. Continued N by Lynn Canal and NW by Icy Strait. Named 1794 by Vancouver after Lord Chatham.
