Concord; 43°22'N 72°20'W. Drained by Sugar R., bounded W by
Connecticut R. (Vt. state line). Mfg.(footwear, apparel, brushes,
consumer goods, bldg. materials, textiles, bldg. materials, machinery,
paper, fabricated metal prods.); agr. (nursery crops, hay, corn,
apples; cattle, poultry; timber). The oldest R.C. church in the state
(begun 1823) is here, and in nearby West Claremont is Union Church, the
state's oldest Episcopal church (begun 1773). A replica of a
pre-Revolutionary fort complex is nearby in Charlestown. Two covered
bridges in E. Seat of Claremont Technical Col. Green Mt.
(2,005 ft/611 m) in NE. Inc. 1764.
