grain and livestock region; cattle, cotton, chile and jalapeno
peppers, vegetables, beans, grain, corn, sorghum, alfalfa, grapes,
melons, fruit, nuts; mfg. (food and beverages). Mining dist. (copper,
zinc) to NW in Grant co.; fluorspar deposits. Mimbres R., flowing
underground here, is tapped for irrigation and drinking water.
