22 mi/35 km NNW of Santa Fe, on the Rio
Grande, in the heart of pueblo country; 36°00'N 106°04'W. A
shipping point for sheep and cattle. Mfg. (pumice, lumber, concrete,
printing and publishing). An annual 3-day fiesta in July commemorates
the establishment nearby of a settlement by Juan de Onate on July
11, 1598. Many scenic, historic, archaeological, and Native American
attractions abound in the area. San Juan Indian Reservation to N; Santa
