Florida's Turnpike

in Fla. This toll road begins at Interstate Highway 75 in Wildwood,
50 mi/80 km NW of Orlando and then passes
through the city as it crosses the center of the peninsula, reaching
the Atlantic coast at Fort Pierce. It then runs parallel to the Eastern
Seaboard for about 100 mi/161 km S of Golden
Glades at the N edge of Maimi. An extension of the turnpike branches
off just N of Golden Gates, swings W of Miami, and terminates
30 mi/48 km S of Miami at Fla. City, from
where U.S. 1 leads to the Fla. Keys that begin
20 mi/32 km farther S.
