Fremont , county ( 9,266 sq mi/23,999 sq km; 1990 pop. 33,662), W central Wyo.; Lander; 43°01'N 108°37'W. Grain, sugar beets, livestock (hay, barley, alfalfa, corn, beans; cattle, sheep) region; watered by Sweetwater, Popo Agie, Wind, and Bighorn rivers. Mfg. (timber). Coal, oil, uranium, natural gas, and iron ore found here. Wind River Mts. in W; Green Mts. in S. Bighorn R. forms Boysen Reservoir in N part; Boysen State Park on E shore. Castle Gardens, sandstone rock formations, and Gas Hills Uranium Mining Dist., in E. Continental Divide passes through SW and NW corners and forms most of W boundary. Parts of Shoshone Natl. Forest in SW and NW; part of Bridger-Teton Natl. Forest in NW corner. Sinks Canyon State Park in SW. Most of large Wind River Indian Reservation located in N center of co. Formed 1884.
