Promontory, N of Great Salt L., at base of Pomontory Point peninsula.
Covers 2,735 acres/1,107 ha; authorized 1957. Site where the
Union Pacific RR and the Central Pacific RR joined to form the first
transcontinental RR in N. Amer., May 10, 1869. The event is reenacted
every year.
