Hamilton, Mount peak (4,213 ft/1,284 m), Santa Clara co., W Calif., in Diablo Range, 15 mi/24 km E of San Jose. Site of Lick Observatory (built 1876-1888), directed by the Univ. of Calif. In 1959 a 120-in/305-cm telescope was installed by the Calif. Inst. of Technology.
