E Canada, on the St. Lawrence R., near L. Ontario, at SW end of Rideau
Canal, overlooking Kingston harbor; 44°14'N 76°28'W. Built 1812,
original fort was demolished 1832 and replaced by present structure.
Later a mus., it was camp for prisoners of war in World Wars I and II.
Commonly referred to as Old Fort Henry. Can. Forces Base Kingston is
1 mi/2 km E.
