Mich., intersecting Keweenaw Peninsula bet. Keweenaw Bay (SE) and L.
Superior (NW). Consists of Portage L.
(c.20 mi/32 km long,
2 mi/3.2 km wide), with a natural connection
with Keweenaw Bay, and a land-cut ship canal
(c.2 mi/3.2 km long) across former portage
bet. Portage L. and L. Superior. U.S. lighthouse at L. Superior
entrance. Hancock, Houghton are ports.
