Bremerton is important seaport and site of Puget Sound Navy Yard.
County directly opposite city of Seattle, ferry service to Seattle and
Edmonds. Illahee State Park in center; Scenic Beach State Beach in W;
Blake Isl., Fay Bainbridge, and Fort Ward state parks in E, on
Bainbridge Isl. U.S. Naval Station at Bangor, in W on Hood Canal, has
Trident ballistic missile submarine base with ½ of
all U.S. long-defense missiles. Includes Port Gamble and Port Madison
Indian reservations in N. Fruits, nuts, poultry; fish, crabs, oysters,
