1973) and Zion 2 (initial criticality December 24, 1973) are
40 mi/64 km N of Chicago. Use cooling water
from L. Michigan, and each has a max. dependable capacity of 1040 MWe.
Major military presence at Great Lakes Naval Training Station and
Philip Sheridan Arms Reserve Center.
