capacity 1,428,000 acre-ft. Extends W through Ozarks in serpentine
course to Harry S. Truman Dam, near Warsaw. Three arms formed by
Niangua R. (S), Grand Auglaize Creek (SE), and Gravoi (GRA-voi) Creek
(N). Formed by Bagnell Dam (2,543 ft/775 m
long; 148 ft/45 m high), built (1929-1931)
for power generation and recreation by Union Electric Company L. of the
Ozarks and Ha Ha Tonka state parks are here. Resort and residential
communities of Osage Beach, Lake Ozark, Hurrican Deck, Sunrise Beach,
Gravois Mills, Lakeland, and Lakeview Heights on the lake's
shores.
