plums, strawberries, grapes, corn, wheat; cattle, hogs, poultry.
Fisheries; resorts. It is a former lumber region. Lighthouse and
Leelanau State Park at tip of peninsula (N). Sleeping Bear Dunes on L.
Michigan shore, including N and S Manitou Isls. Timber Line Ski Area in
S, Sugar Loaf Mt. Ski Area in center. Organized 1863.
