Arnold nuclear power plant, initial criticality March 23, 1974, is
8 mi/12.9 km NW of Cedar Rapids, uses cooling
water from the Cedar Rapids R., and has a max. dependable capacity of
515 MW. Palisades Kepler State Park in SE; Pleasant Creek State Park in
NW. Flooding occurred along rivers in 1993. Formed 1837.
