Marias
(muh-REI-uhs), river,
c.210 mi/338 km long, N Mont.; formed by
joining of Cut Bank Creek and Two Medicine R. on border bet. Glacier
and Pondersa cos.; flows E, passes
8 mi/12.9 km S of Shelby and through L. Elwell
(Tiber Reservoir), then SE and receives Teton R. just before entering
Missouri R. at Loma. Used for irrigation. Tiber Dam (completed 1956),
is part of the Missouri R. Basin Project.
