Mille Lacs (MIL laks), county ( 681 sq mi/1,764 sq km; 1990 pop. 18,670), E central Minn.; Milaca; 45°55'N 93°37'W. Drained by Rum R. Resort area; agr. (alfalfa, hay, corn, oats, barley, rye; hogs, cattle, poultry; dairying); timber; peat; sand and gravel. Part of Mille Lacs Wildlife Area here. S ½ of Mille Lacs L. in N; parts of Mille Lacs Indian Reservation in NW and NE corners; Father Hennipen State Park in NE; Mille Lacs Kathio State Park in NW, both on shore of Mille Lacs L.; parts of Rum R. State Forest in NW and E center. Formed 1857.
