Mohave , county ( 13,470 sq mi/34,887 sq km; 1990 pop. 93,497), NW Ariz.; Kingman; 35°42'N 113°45'W. Mining (lead, silver, zinc, gold, copper); agr. (cattle; alfala, wheat, barley, sorgham, lettuce, honeydews). Hualpai, Mohave, and Black mts. in SW. Drained by Big Sandy R. in SE. Parts of Grand Canyon Natl. Park in N center and NE; parts of L. Mead Natl. Recreation Area in NW and N center. Colorado R. bounds co. in large part on W., foms lakes Havasu, Mohave, and Mead and state boundary of Nev. (part) and Calif.; entire W state line forms Pacific-Mountain time zone boundary (Ariz is in Mountain); Colorado R. crosses co. in N and forms part of E boundary; bounded by Utah on N, with Kaibab Creek forming NE boundary; Bill Williams and Santa Maria rivers form S boundary. Part of large Hualapai Indian Reservation in NE center, small sections of reservation NE and SW of Kingman; part of Kaibab Indian Reservation in far NE; part of Fort Mojave Indian Reservation in SW corner, on Colorado R., next to Calif. and Nev. Mt. Nuff, Warm Springs, and Wabayuma Peak wilderness areas in SW corner, 2 sects. of Havasu Natl. Wildlife Refuge in SW; Paints and Beaver Dam wilderness areas in NW corner; Hualapai Mt. Park in center, SE of Kingman; L. Havasu State Park in SW. Hoover Dam forms L. Mead on Nev. border. Fifth-largest co. in U.S. in land area. Formed 1864.
