Neversink River
, c.65 mi/105 km long,
SE N.Y.; rises in the Catskills W of Ashokan Reservoir; flows SW and S,
paralleling W base of the Shawangunk range in lower course, to the
Delaware at Port Jervis. In upper course (called Neversink Creek) is
earth-fill Neversink Dam (2,800 ft/853 m long,
200 ft/61 m high; begun 1941), impounding
Neversink Reservoir. A 5-mi/8-km water tunnel extends to
Rondout Reservoir, which connects with Delaware Aqueduct.
