extension, 5 mi/8 km long. Formed by Pokegama
L. Dam (16 ft/5 m high), built (1884) by Army
Corps of Engineers for flood control; also used for water supply and
recreation. Resort area. Forest History Center at N end of lake. Golden
Anniversary State Forest nearby.
