Ark.; flows W into Okla., where it is joined by the small Fourche
Moline, then NNE, past Poteau, Shadypoint, and Panama, to Arkansas R.
at Fort Smith (Ark.). Wister Dam (99 ft/30 m
high, 8,700 ft/2,652 m long, including
concrete spillway and earth-fill barrier and dike; completed 1949 by
U.S. Army Engineers) is in middle course just S of Wister (Okla.); used
for flood control; forms Wister Reservoir
