co., E Md., 10 mi/16 km SE of Chestertown;
39°08'N 76°14'W. A ferry plied to Annapolis here as a link in a
main post road N and S. Ships oysters, crabs, fish; tomato cannery,
shirt factory. Commercial fishermen fear being crowded out by pleasure
craft since the Army Corps of Engineers rebuilt the jetties and
upgraded the harbor in 1981.
