Sabillasville
(sah-BIL-AZ-vil), resort village, Frederick co.,
N Md., in the Blue Ridge, 20 mi/32 km N of
Frederick. Was 1st called Zollingers' Town after a developer of the
same name; he changed it to Servilla for his wife following her death.
Over time, the pronunciation and the spelling changed. The Victor
Cullen School for Delinquent Boys is named after the founder of the
state's 1st tuberculosis hosp. here in 1908. Nearby are Catoctin Mt.
Park and Camp Ritchie (W), named after Md. Gov. Albert G. Ritchie
(1876-1936).
