of San Juan Isls.; 11 mi/18 km long,
8 mi/12.9 km wide. Bounded E by San Juan
Channel, N by Spieden Channel, W by Haro Strait, S by Strait of Juan de
Fuca. Middle Bank extends SW from isl. Friday Harbor, on N side, is
largest town in the isl. group and capital of San Juan co. Village of
Roche Harbor is on NW. Dairying; fruit, hay; fishing. Limestone.
Tourism. Lime Kiln Point State Park on W side; Turn Isl. State Park
off E shore; Posey Isl. and Stuart Isl. state parks
off NW end. Three units of San Juan Natl. Historic Park are
at Friday Harbor, at Wescott Bay (Eng. Camp Unit) in N, and at Cattle
