Kennebec co. border. Mfg. (shoes, paper, pulp, and wood prods.) at
Skowhegan, Madison, Fairfield, Norridgewock on the Kennebec R., and
Pittsfield on the Sebasticook R.; farming, dairying. Moosehead L. and
Jackman-Moose R. regions are known for hunting, canoeing, and excellent
fishing. In NW are lumber camps. The Kennebec is dammed at Bingham and
furnishes power to several towns along its course. Formed 1809.
