Cygnus buccinator Richardson [1,4,17]. There are no recognized
subspecies or races.

OTHER STATUS :
The trumpeter swan is listed as a species of special concern in Idaho
(Category A, Draft List) and Montana, and as a Priority 1 species in
Wyoming. Region 1 of the U.S. Forest Service lists it as a sensitive
species on the Beaverhead, Gallatin, and Custer National Forests.
Region 4 (Draft List) also lists it as a sensitive species [7,15,18,23].
Trumpeter swans are listed as vulnerable in Alberta, British Columbia,
Saskatchewan, and Yukon Territory [25].
