Slosson SCS PLANT CODE : GYDR COMMON NAMES : oak fern TAXONOMY : The commonly accepted scientific name for oak fern is Gymnocarpium dryopteris (L.) Newm. in the family Polypodiaceae. There are two subspecies as follows [18]: Gymnocarpium dryopteris ssp. disjunctum (Rupr.) Sarvela G. dryopteris ssp. dryopteris The synonym Dryopteris disjuncta is used frequently in the literature [8,9,22].
