TAXONOMY : 
The currently accepted scientific name of mules ears is Wyethia
amplexicaulis (Nutt.) Nutt.  It is in the family Asteraceae [12,32].
Mules ears apparently hybridizes with W. arizonica Gray [12] and
with arrowleaf balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata) [35].
