The scientific name of bluebunch wheatgrass is Pseudoroegneria spicata (Pursh) A. Löve (Poaceae) [25,78,136,153,154,225]. There are two subspecies of bluebunch wheatgrass: Pseudoroegneria spicata ssp. spicata and Pseudoroegneria spicata ssp. inerme (beardless bluebunch wheatgrass) [121]. The only difference between the typical subspecies of bluebunch wheatgrass and beardless bluebunch wheatgrass is the presence or absence of divergent alms.
