TAXONOMY:The currently accepted scientific name of medusahead is Taeniatherum caput-medusae (L.) Nevski. There are 3 subspecies found in Europe: T. c. ssp. caput-medusae, T. c. ssp. cinitum (Schreb.) Meldris, and T. c. ssp. asperum (Simk.) Meldris. The entity occurring the United States is T. c. ssp. asperum [38,49,61].
