GENERAL DISTRIBUTION : Sweetfern occurs from New Brunswick south through the New England states to the northern tip of Georgia and west through northern Illinois, Indiana, and the Great Lakes states to eastern Saskatchewan and North Dakota [8]. Comptonia peregrina var. asplenifolia occurs from Long Island, New York, south to Virginia [13].
