The currently accepted scientific name for wax currant is Ribes cereum
Dougl. [19]. It is a member of the gooseberry family
(Grossulariaceae). Kartesz [21] recognized the following three
varieties:
R. cereum var. cereum Dougl. (wax currant)
R. cereum var. colubrinum C. L. Hitchc. (wax currant)
R. cereum var. pedicellare Brewer & S. Wats. (whisky currant)
