It is a codominant with buffalograss (Buchloe dactyloides), oatgrass (Danthonia parryi), blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis), Gambel oak (Quercus gambelii), creeping juniper (Juniperus horizontalis), mountain-mahogany (Cercocarpus montanus), Idaho fescue (Festuca idahoensis), and needle-and-thread (Stipa comata).
